Coming Soon! 2016 Nissan Sentra

Nissan's small sedan FINALLY looks like it's trying.

Oh the poor Nissan Sentra. Compared to rivals like the Mazda3 and the latest Honda Civic, the Sentra has been the forgettable sitcom no one cared about. But wait! What's this? It's the 2016 Nissan Sentra!

Debuting at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, the 2016 Nissan Sentra looks like Nissan's largest sedan, the Maxima, but at 2/3 the size. Initial impressions of the exterior design are better than I expected.

The front end is designed with Nissan's "V-motion" grille - the marketing department really tried with that name – and includes LED lights. A product specialist from Nissan described the design as “energy design flow” which all Nissans are using. It does look more striking but once again the marketing department really needs to come with better words for the corporate grille.

The outgoing Sentra's interior can be described as "functional" which is another way of saying "boring", so the 2016 Sentra's interior has been totally overhauled. For 2016, the Sentra has a new steering wheel, infotainment system, seats, buttons, and cup holders.  This is where the dollars have been spent and was really needed. You no longer feel like you’re in a cheap Japanese car.

So the Sentra has a new interior and exterior, yet its heart stays the same. “Sentras are known more for their interior space and low prices rather than performance.”  He is rather correct. The interior doesn’t feel like you’re sitting in a cave and with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine producing 130 horsepower, the Sentra is (not) surprisingly slow.

The number one selling point of the Nissan Sentra has always been the price, and this one keeps that. Look for the 2016 Nissan Sentra to hit showrooms in December costing $17,605.
